Former Polokwane City striker Rodney Ramagalela has picked Orlando Pirates’ winger Monnapule Saleng as his MTN8 Last Man Standing candidate.

The 26-year-old was instrumental in Pirates’ historic MTN8 title defence playing in all four matches scoring two goals and assisting once as the Buccaneers secured their third Wafa-Wafa trophy in a row.

Ramagalela told iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 176 of the newspaper that it’s not an easy choice as there were other players who also raised their hands like Relebohile Mofokeng, however thought Saleng stood out for him because he has proved that he has big game temperament.

“The Last Man Standing, Yoh! That’s a tough one,” Ramagalela told iDiski Times.

“For me I’ll go with Saleng. I think Saleng has proven in this year’s competition that he is a big-game player and he has done it on many occasions in the games.

“For me, that will be the Last Man Standing and not looking down on young Mofokeng. I think the boy is growing very well and he’s doing very well.

“I’m so happy to see a youngster coming up like that and giving that performance, whether he’s starting or whether he’s from the bench. I think Pirates have a good bunch of players that can make an impact in each and every game that they are playing.

Rama G went to say that he hopes to see Pirates show the same performances from the cup in the league to make competition exciting, also adding that Kaizer Chiefs’ resurgence and Pirates’ form means they can give Mamelodi Sundowns a run for their money this campaign.

“And I’ll be happier to see this type of performance and commitment that they have shown in the MTN8 continue in the Betway Premiership, so that we can have a healthy competition between the rivals Sundowns” added the Limpopo born forward.

“You know, I think it’s going to be quite interesting to see Pirates continue with their form in the Betway and also happy seeing Kaizer Chiefs coming to the party this season. I think our league is starting to take shape now and that’s something that we’ve been waiting to see for a very long time”.
